Gurindervir Singh finished second in Heat 4 of the men's 100m preliminary round, clocking 10.39 seconds behind Jamaica's Rohan Watson, who won the race in 10.13 seconds.
After the completion of four of the 11 heats, Gurindervir is ninth overall. With 17 fastest athletes across all heats progressing to the semifinals, the Indian will now have to wait for the remaining seven heats to determine whether his time is enough to secure qualification.
