World champion Saweety Boora in bitter dowry dispute
Meanwhile, her husband, Deepak Hooda, a former India kabaddi player, has accused her of plotting to kill him.

When Saweety Boora tied the knot with Deepak Niwas Hooda in July 2022, the union was celebrated as a rare coming together of sporting champions.
Boora is a gold medalist from the 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships and Hooda, a former captain of India national kabaddi team. Fast forward to 2025 and the marriage has turned sour.
According to reports, Saweety has filed a complaint with the Hisar police, accusing her husband of demanding Rs. 1 crore and an SUV automobile in the form of dowry in addition to physical assaulting her.
Saweety has reportedly also filed for divorce in the court of law.
On the other hand, Hooda has accused Saweety and her family of seizing his property and threatening to kill him. And that is the basis of his case against her with the local police.
Speaking to the media, the Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan said that Hooda was issued a notice and asked to appear for the investigation but he has thus not appeared in person.
In keeping with the ongoing marital discord, Sweety Bora has removed all pictures featuring Hooda from her social media accounts.
The couple married on July 7, 2022 and both Saweety and Deepak have incidentally been awarded the prestigious Arjuna Awards.
Saweety, a 2023 World Championships gold medallist, received the Arjuna Award in January 2025. Hooda, meanwhile, is a 2020 Arjuna awardee, and had contested for the 2024 Assembly election on a BJP ticket from the Meham constituency.
