India enjoyed a productive second day at the World Boxing Cup Stage 2 in China, with Jyoti, Prachi and Nikhil registering victories to advance in their respective categories.

The biggest breakthrough came from Jyoti in the women's 48kg division. The Indian boxer delivered a commanding performance against Mongolia's Enkh Amgalan Nomundari, forcing a Referee Stops Contest (RSC) verdict in the second round. The win propelled her into the semi-finals, guaranteeing India its first medal of the tournament.

Prachi also progressed comfortably in the women's 57kg category after outclassing American boxer Deborah Grant. She secured a unanimous 5-0 victory to move into the next round and strengthen India's campaign.

In the men's 55kg category, Nikhil emerged victorious in a closely fought contest against France's Christopher Hippocrate. The Indian boxer edged the bout 3-2 on a split decision to keep his hopes alive in the competition.

Mixed results for Indian Contingent

While three Indian boxers advanced, others endured narrow defeats on day two. Poonam's run in the women's 54kg category came to an end after a closely contested 2-3 loss to Chinese Taipei's Hsiao Wen Huang.

Akash also suffered a narrow defeat in the men's 75kg division, losing 2-3 to Poland's Mateusz Urban. In the women's 70kg category, Gitimoni bowed out after a unanimous 0-5 defeat against France's Maelys Richol.

India will have a busy schedule on the third day of competition. Nikhil will return to action against Brazil's Kelvy Trindade in the men's 55kg category, while Deepak faces Japan's Sewon Okazawa in the 70kg division. Malsawmtluanga will take on Jordan's Ashaish Hussein in the men's 80kg event.

In the women's competition, Saneh will face South Korea's Seon Sujin in the 65kg category, while Mahi Lama is set to meet Mongolia's Monkhor Namuun in the 60kg division as India looks to add to its medal tally.
