Despite the protocol to be quarantined, Mary Kom attends meeting with President

The Boxing Federation of India had earlier said that the boxers who returned from Jordan after the Asian Olympic Qualifiers were to be home-quarantined given all the risks around their travel. But six-time world champion and Rajya Sabha member broke the ‘home-quarantine’ rule to attend President’s meeting in Rashtrapati Bhavan reports scroll.

The protocol was put in place by the World Health Organisation and the Indian Government with regards to the growing concern of the coronavirus pandemic. All the members, though, were gone through the necessary health clearance procedure, the protocol required them to stay quarantined for 14-days.

On 18 March, she was seen attending the breakfast hosted by the President Ram Nath Kovind. Even scarier is BJP's Dushyant Singh being in the meeting who was in a party with Kanika Kapoor who tested positive of COVID-19. Not to forget that being a contagious disease, it is very easy for the virus to travel among people.

What is even more ironic is that it was the Olympic bronze medalist who advised everyone to be self-quarantined. Mary agreed to the incident and defended herself by saying that ''I only attended the President's event and did not meet Dushyant Singh and shake hands."
