Boxer Amit Panghal has turned professional by signing with Critical Sports and Entertainment, a talent management agency, on Wednesday.

Olympian Panghal, 29, is one of India’s most accomplished boxers, having won gold at the Asian Championships and the Asian Games. He also became the first Indian male boxer to win a silver medal at the World Championships in 2019.

“Critical Sports and Entertainment is proud to announce the signing of world-renowned Olympian boxer Amit Panghal,” the agency wrote in an Instagram post. The agency will now manage Panghal’s journey in professional boxing.

A former World No. 1 in the 52kg category, Panghal represented India at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 51kg category, having made pre-quarterfinal exits in both Games.

He clinched gold and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and 2018, respectively.

“As he shifts once again to the professional ranks, Amit brings a wealth of experience, skill, and a champion’s mentality. We, alongside co-manager Connor Burke, are honoured to welcome him to the Critical Sports and Entertainment family and look forward to guiding him on this exciting next chapter of his career,” the agency added.
