India’s Vishvanath Suresh and Sachin progressed to the next round of the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 with convincing victories on Day 3 of the competition in Ulaanbaatar.
Competing in the men’s 50kg category, Vishvanath Suresh delivered a dominant performance to defeat Kyrgyzstan’s Bekzat Ergeshov by a unanimous 5-0 decision. The Indian boxer controlled the bout with precision and effective ring management, ensuring a comfortable win.
He now faces a significantly tougher challenge in the next round against Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay, the reigning world champion and a recent World Cup winner, in what is expected to be a key contest.
In the men’s 60kg division, Sachin secured a 4-1 split decision victory over Mongolia’s Buyandalai Bayarkhuu. The bout remained competitive throughout, but Sachin maintained composure to edge ahead on the judges’ scorecards.
He is set to take on Chinese Taipei’s Cheng-Wei Lee in his upcoming bout as he looks to continue his run in the tournament.
The Asian Boxing Championships continues to feature high-level competition, with early rounds proving demanding due to the depth of talent across participating nations. India’s boxers will aim to build on these results as they move closer to the medal stages.
