FIBA U18 Asia Cup: India to open campaign against South Korea
The Indian U18 men's national basketball team have been placed in Group B along with South Korea, Iran, and Kuwait for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup.
The schedule for the 27th edition of the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 was announced on Tuesday, with the Indian U18 men's national basketball team being slotted in Group B along with South Korea, Iran, and Kuwait.
The FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan, from September 2 to 9.
India will begin their campaign on September 2 against the reigning champions South Korea.
The Indian team will face three-time Asian champion Iran on September 3 and conclude their group stage matches against Kuwait on September 4.
India qualified for the Asia Cup by topping the 2024 U18 SABA Qualifier held in Colombo, Srilanka in July.
The top four teams from the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup.
India never qualified for the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup and their best in the Asia Cup was a fourth-place finish at the FIBA U18 Asia Cup in 1972.
In the previous edition that took place in Tehran, Iran in 2022, India finished 9th out of the 10th teams.
