BWF World Tour Finals: Treesa/Gayatri go down fighting against WR 1

Indian women's doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost the first group game of the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 on Wednesday.
The Indian pair fought a tough battle but lost to the world number-one pair, Liu Sheng and Tan Ning, in a tightly fought contest over an hour.
Treesa/Gayatri lost 22-20, 20-22, 14-21 in a three-game thriller.
The Indian pair started well in the first game and fought a toe-to-toe battle against Liu and Tan. The Indian pair prevailed at the end and won the first game 22-20.
The same script played out in the second game when the Indian pair had a chance to finish the match tied at 20-20 but the experience of the Chinese pair triumphed as they forced a decider with a 22-20 win.
The World number one pair was the better one in the final game and maintained their lead throughout the game,
The Indian pair were trailing 9-16 and tried to mount a comeback but a few unforced errors resulted in the Chinese pair winning the final game and match.
Treesa/Gayatri will be up against world number six women's doubles pair Pearly Tan/Thinnah Muralitharan of Malaysia in the second group game.
