Treesa/Gayatri books their berth in BWF World Tour Finals 2024
The Indian women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand has booked their place in BWF World Tour finals 2024 via rankings.
Indian women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will be the only representatives from the country at the BWF World Tour Finals 2024.
The Indian duo is placed eighth in the live rankings of the race to the World Tour finals and is set to feature in the year-end tournament.
Despite exiting in the second round of the China Masters 2024, the Indian pair have enough points and have been consistently playing on the circuit to stay in the top eight.
The duo will be the only Indians playing in the BWF World Tour finals scheduled to be held in Hangzhou after no other shuttler in the other categories was able to make the cut.
The pair’s best results this year have come in the Singapore and Macau Open, where it reached the semifinals but fell short of reaching the summit clash.
In the China Masters, the Indians lost out to the World rank 1 pair of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning 16-21, 11-21 in the pre-quarterfinals.
The duo also became the only second Indian women's doubles pair to make it to the World Tour finals after Ashwini Ponappa and N Sikki Reddy featured in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
