Thailand Open 2026: Satwik-Chirag advance to second round

The top seeded men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty from India advanced to the second round of the 2026 Thailand Open Super 500 on Tuesday.
Rankireddy and Shetty had to survive a scare against Indonesia's Muh Putra Erwiansyah and Bagas Maulana, before registering a 21-19, 21-23, 21-10 win in 64 minutes.
It was the first meeting between the two pair and the Indians now lead 1-0 in the head-to-head encounters.
Elsewhere, the seventh seeded men's doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and Arjun MR went down to a lower-ranked Chen Zi Ray and Lin Yu Chieh of Chinese Taipei 18-21, 22-20 in straight games.
The women's doubles pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda also lost their first round battle 9-21, 11-12 to Lin and Yang of Chinese Taipei to crash out of the competition.
Meanwhile, Manav Choudhary in men's singles, and Mohit Jaglan-Lakshita Jaglan in mixed doubles failed to make it past the qualification rounds.
