The BWF World Tour action returns with the 2026 Thailand Open Super 500, set to begin at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok from Tuesday.
The Thailand Open, an annual badminton tournament held since 1984, was classified as a Super 500 event on the HSBC BWF World Tour in 2018. The competition offers crucial world ranking points and prize money, making it an important stop ahead of major international events.
The tournament will follow a standard single-elimination knockout format, featuring a qualifying draw and a main draw.
The main draw consists of top-ranked players who qualify directly through world rankings, while the qualifying rounds offer lower-ranked players a chance to enter the main competition.
The qualifying rounds and main draw Round of 32 will begin on May 12.
Indian participation at the 2026 Thailand Open
India will be represented by a strong 35-member contingent across all five categories – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles – as the tournament brings together some of the top international shuttlers in the world.
The likes of Ayush Shetty, Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty are all expected to be in action.
India will be hoping for another strong showing this year, especially with players like Ayush Shetty reaching the final of the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships and Devika Sihag winning her maiden BWF World Tour title earlier this season at the Thailand Masters Super 300.
