The women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also moved to the semifinal with a straight-game win.
PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen progressed to the semi-final of the Syed Modi India International with straight-game victories at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow on Friday.
The young women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand joined them in the semifinal with a comfortable straight-game win against Pei Kee Go and Mei Xing Teoh of Malaysia in a match that lasted for 36 minutes.
PV Sindhu got the better of the young Chinese shuttler Dai Wang in a straight-game (21-15, 21-17) affair. She had a very good match and looked better in comparison to her other matches.
Sindhu found some good cross-court smashes to trouble the Chinese shuttler and showed much better aggressive play to finish the match in 48 minutes.
She will now take on the young Indian player, Unnati Hooda in the semi-final tomorrow. The youngster took a comparatively easier win against Ishika Jaiswal of the USA, despite facing an early challenge.
In the men's singles, top-seeded Lakshya Sen also booked his spot in the semi-final with a straight-game (21-8, 21-19) victory against compatriot Meiraba Luwang Maisnam in the quarterfinal.
Lakshya was too good for the youngster in the first game, winning it comfortably by 21-8. The same thing was happening in the next game but then Meiraba made a solid comeback from 12-19 to 19-19.
However, he could not continue this momentum and Lakshya clinched the game by winning the final two points, 21-19.
Lakshya's semifinal opponent will be Japanese shuttler Shogo Ogawa, who booked his place in the final four by beating the young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty in straight games.
