Indian shuttlers clinched three out of the five possible titles on the final day of the Syed Modi India International at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.

Top Indian shuttlers like PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen clinched the women's and men's singles titles whereas the Indian women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand clinched their maiden BWF World Tour title.

Historic titles for the Indian contingent

Indian contingent ended the day on a high by clinching three BWF World Tour titles in a row, registering a few comfortable wins in the straight games.

Firstly, the young Indian women's doubles pairing of Treesa and Gayatri clinched their maiden Super 300 title against the Chinese pairing of Bao Li Jing and Li Qian, with a straight game (21-18, 21-11) win.

The duo showed excellent comradery in the match as Treesa's powerful smashes from the backcourt were equally supported by Gayatri's solid defence and net play.

This title win will be a good confidence booster for the youngsters before heading for their maiden BWF World Tour Finals, which is scheduled from 11 to 15 December 2024.

Later, the top Indian shuttlers, PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen also ended their long wait for a World Tour title, by clinching their maiden world title of the year in the women's and men's singles categories respectively.

Sindhu registered a straight-game (21-14, 21-16) win against in-form Wu Luo Lu of China to clinch her third Syed Modi International title, equalling the record of Saina Nehwal for the most titles at this tournament.

Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen had a pretty comfortable (21-6, 21-7) win in his final against Jia Heng Jason Teh of Singapore, who had no answer to his stroke play and lost the match in 31 minutes, managing just 13 points overall.

Runners-up finish for Dhruv-Tanisha and Sai-Pruthvi

However, India didn't have an ideal start to the day as the Indian mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto and the men's doubles pair of Sai Pratheek and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy lost their respective finals.

Dhruv and Tanisha put up a spirited fight against the former world champion Dechapol Puavaranukroh of Thailand and his new partner Supissara Paewsampran but the Indian duo bowed out losing the three- game match 21-18, 14-21, 8-21.

Meanwhile, Sai and Pruthvi went down against the Chinese pair of Liu Yang and Huang Di in a three-game (14-21, 21-19, 17-21) encounter that lasted for 71 minutes.
