The Supreme Court of India, on Tuesday, issued a stay order on the age fraud investigations against Lakshya Sen after the shuttler filed a special leave petition.

Special leave petition is an application filed in the highest court of India to quash a lower court's order.

The Karnataka High Court had, on Monday, permitted the continuation of proceedings against Lakshya, his parents, brother Chirag Sen, and coach Vimal Kumar.

As per a report in Livelaw, Lakshya approached the Supreme Court and a bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and K Vinod Chandran stayed the coercive steps.

The matter will now be heard on April 16, later in the year.

Nagaraja MG, a badminton coach from Bengaluru, had filed a FIR against Lakshya and his team accusing them of forging his age back in December 2022.

The Karnataka High Court after issuing stay orders for long, on Monday, permitted to resume the proceedings with Lakshya's lawyer unable to present their side of arguments despite multiple opportunities.

"When prima facie materials are placed on record which constitute the offenses, I do not find any reason either to stall the investigation or to quash the initiation of criminal proceedings," the high court had said.
