Double Olympic medallist and five-time World Championships medallist PV Sindhu tied the knot with software engineer and entrepreneur Venkata Datta Sai in Udaipur, Rajasthan on Sunday.

Sindhu, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, married Venkata, an executive director at Posidex Technologies, on Sunday in a traditional ceremony attended by close family and friends.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, took to 'X' to share the first photograph of the wedding on Monday.

“Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead,” Shekhawat tweeted.

The celebration of the legendary Indian shuttler's marriage started with a Sangeet ceremony on December 20 as the two families assembled at the wedding venue. This was followed by traditional rituals such as Haldi, Pellikuthuru, Mehendi, and other customs on December 21.

Sindhu ended her BWF World Tour title hiatus at the Syed Modi India International in Lucknow earlier this month. Sindhu is regarded as India's one of the greatest athletes. He won a Commonwealth Games gold, the BWF World Tour Finals and the Asian Games silver. In 2019, he won the World Championships gold medal.
