Odisha Masters: Rithvik wins Odisha Masters title, Tanvi makes runner-up finish
Rithvik Sanjeevi won the Odisha Masters men's singles title as he beat Tharun 21-18, 21-16 in the final. Tanvi Sharma lost to Cai Yan Yan of China.
Rithvik Sanjeevi Satish Kumar claimed the men’s singles title at the Odisha Masters, a BWF Tour Super 100 event, in Cuttack on Sunday.
He defeated World No. 68, Tharun Mannepalli in straight games (21-18, 21-16) in 43 minutes. Rithvik, ranked World No. 78, had also won the Telangana International Challenge earlier this year.
In the women’s singles final, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma, however, lost to China’s Cai Yan Yan. Tanvi lost the match 14-21, 16-21 in 35 minutes. Cai had earlier won the Guwahati Masters and had beaten Anmol Kharb, another Indian player, in the semifinals.
In the doubles events, China claimed two titles. Gao Jia Xuan and Tang Rui Zhi won the mixed doubles, while Huang Di and Liu Yang took the men’s doubles crown. Japan’s Nanako Hara and Riko Kiyosa won the women’s doubles title.
