The Indian challenge at the BWF Junior World Championships came to an end, with the defeats of Tanvi Sharma, Aalisha Naik, and Pranav Shettigar, in China, on Friday.

Tanvi Sharma lost to Xu Wen Jing of China 1-2 (13-21, 21-19, 15-21), while Aalisha Naik lost 0-2 to Dai Qin Yi of China (18-21, 19-21).

In the junior men's quarterfinals, Pranav Shettigar lost to Wang Zi Jun in straight sets 0-2 (9-21, 16-21).

In the first match of the day, Tanvi started off slowly and repeated errors from the young Indian was capitalized by her opponent Xu, who took the first game 21-13.

Tanvi came storming back in the second game and won it 21-19, in what was an exhilarating game two. It took a toll on Tanvi as she injured her knee and was not at her best in the decider.

Despite that, Tanvi fought on but Xu Wen Jing ultimately prevailed in the decider, winning 21-15.

Aalisha Naik was also a victim of her own mistakes against her opponent Dai. She made a late surge at 14-20, saving four of the six game points but the latter got the decisive point and made it 1-0.

The second game was fought tooth and nail and an error of judgement at the end of game two cost her the game and a semifinals berth, losing 19-21 in game two.

Wang Zi Jun dominated his quarterfinals match against Pranav and barely broke a sweat in the match, winning it 2-0 rather comfortably.

With their exits, the Indian contention at the Junior World Championships ends.
