The 2026 Japan Open Super 750 is all set to kickstart at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium from Tuesday.

The tournament carries a total prize purse of USD 950,000 and features many of the world's top badminton players.

It is one of the mandatory stops on the BWF World Tour, making it a key opportunity for players to earn valuable ranking points ahead of the BWF World Championships in New Delhi next month and the Asian Games later this year.

India will field a strong contingent led by Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu and the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in the competition.

Youngsters Ayush Shetty and Unnati Hooda will also be aiming to make deep runs and improve their world rankings.

Top stars, key Indian matches

The men's singles draw will feature world No. 1 Shi Yu Qi, Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Denmark's Anders Antonsen and Japan's Kodai Naraoka among others.

In the women's singles, defending champion An Se Young headlines the field alongside China's Wang Zhi Yi and Chen Yu Fei, while four-time Japan Open champion Akane Yamaguchi leads the home challenge.

Among the Indian first-round matches, Lakshya Sen will face Japan's Kenta Watanabe, while Ayush Shetty takes on former world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

PV Sindhu opens her campaign against Wong Ling Ching of Malaysia, whereas Unnati Hooda faces Chinese Taipei's Huang Yu-Hsun.

In doubles, Satwik and Chirag begin against Denmark's Mads Vestergaard and Daniel Lundgaard.

Elsewhere in women's douubles Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand withdrew at the last minute leaving India with no representation in the discipline, while Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto and Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde will headline the Indian mixed doubles challenge.
