India Open 2026 Highlights: The last Indian standing in the home event, Lakshya Sen crashed out of the 2026 India Open following a 21-17, 13-21, 18-21 loss to Chinese Taipei's Lin Chun Yi on Friday.
Sen, who took down fellow Indian Ayush Shetty and Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the first two rounds, had to shoulder the expectations of emerging as the hosts' only silver lining amidst the off-court controversies the tournament has found itself in.
Unfortunately for India and Sen, the campaign ended on a disappointing note.

Lin turns the tide!
Lin jumps to net now and takes Sen by a surprise to get the serve back. A brilliant mid-court interception to his backhand side to win the next point as well as he reduces the deficit to 13-17.

Lin on the backfoot completely
Sen is leading 16-11 after a shot gone long from Lin. A long rally follows, quite possibly the longest of the match.
Both shuttlers are tired by the end and it is a Lin lift which lands long that puts an end to the rally. Sen leads 17-11.

A long rally
A long rally and Sen is seemingly on the backfoot. But Sen comes up with a miraculous mid-court intervention, stretching wide to his forehand side and wins the point with a stunning shot. 16-11 lead for the Indian.

Lakshya Sen in the LEAD!
A flat shot from Lin goes long, handing Lakshya a 7-6 lead.
Sen, however, lands a shot wide himself. The shot is called out and he asks for a challenge. He is proven wrong. Lin level at 7-7.

Lin Chun Yi on a roll
A run of four straight points for the Chinese Taipei shuttler, who has opened up a 5-2 lead.
Just as I type it, a cross court smash from Lin lands wide, handing the serve back to Sen, who trails 3-5.

An intense start to the contest
A long rally and Sen is pushed to his limit. He does well to stay in it but a very tired drop shot lands just out of bounds in the sidelines. 2-2.

Lakshya to receive first
Lakshya Sen to receive first from the far end of the court. A half-smash into the Indian's body earns Lin the first point of the match.
Sen negates it soon with a well placed shot. 1-1.
