German Open: India's campaign ends as Dhruv-Tanisha bow out in semis

The Indian mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto exited in the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament, the German Open, in Mülheim, Germany, on Saturday.
Dhruv and Tanisha were the only Indian representatives in the semi-finals, meaning Indian shuttlers failed to reach the final for the fifth successive BWF World Tour tournament this year.
The Indian duo put up a spirited fight but lacked composure in the crucial moments, suffering a tight defeat against Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, 23-25, 21-10, 15-21.
A missed opportunity
The match began on a tense note, with both pairs displaying strong net play and preventing each other from establishing a big lead. However, in the latter half of the first game, the Indonesians seemed to be pulling away.
The Indian pair fought back, forcing a deuce at 20-20 and saving four game points before eventually losing 23-25.
In the second game, the momentum shifted as Dhruv and Tanisha took an early lead and maintained their dominance to win 21-10, forcing a decider.
The final game saw the Indonesians race ahead early, but the Indian duo made a spirited comeback, overturning the lead at the mid-game interval, 11-10.
However, Dhruv and Tanisha lost their composure in the closing moments, conceding several free points due to unforced errors, ultimately missing the chance to reach the final and losing 15-21 in the decider.
