After a dismal showing in the Korea Open, the Indian badminton players start their campaign in the Denmark Open 2019 in Odense on October 15.

After clinching the World title earlier this year, PV Sindhu has been unable to create much of a mark, losing in the first and second rounds of the China Open and the Korea Open respectively. She will take on Indonesia's Gregoria Tunjung in the first round.

Saina Nehwal, after much drama over her visa, arrives to play in the competition on the back of fitness and injury issues. The Olympic bronze medallist last won the Indonesia Masters in January this year, after which she was diagnosed with gastroenteritis problem. She will face Sayaka Takahashi, world number 12 from Japan.

In the men's event, Kidambi Srikanth, Sai Praneeth, Parupalli Kashyap, Sourabh Verma and Sameer Verma will be in action, while Thailand Open winners Satwiksairaj Rankiredyy, Chirag Shetty, Attri Manu, Reddy Sumeeth, Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy will play in the doubles events

Schedule

The tournament, running from October 15 to October 20, will see 40 matches being held on Day 1, with another 40 on the second day as well. All Round 1 games will be held on the first two days, with the finals scheduled for October 20.

When and where to watch

The Denmark Open 2019 will be aired on the Star Sports Network, with Jio TV live streaming the competition as well.

Prediction

After disappointing showings in the previous two competitions, the Indians will hope they can turn the tide and return with a better performance here. World Championship bronze medalist Sai Praneeth will face a stiff test in the first round as he faces Lin Dan

However, the rest of the Indians in the singles event should qualify for the next round.
