China Masters 2024: Anupama stuns Beiwen Zhang, Sumeeth-Sikki win; Priyanshu, Aakarshi lose - Highlights

Anupama Upadhyaya registered the day's biggest win from the Indian standpoint at the China Masters in Shenzhen, China on Tuesday.
Anupama, ranked 50th in the BWF world rankings, stunned World No. 15 Beiwen Zhang 21-17, 8-21, 22-20 to reach the pre-quarterfinals of the Super 750 event.
However, Priyanshu Rajawat and Aakarshi Kashyap made first-round exits, losing to Chico Dwi Wardoyo and Tomoka Miyazaki, respectively.
In mixed doubles, B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy - India's sole pair competing at the event - defeated Presley Smith and Jennie Gai of the USA 23-21, 17-21, 21-17 to secure their spot in the pre-quarterfinals.

Priyanshu's ability to engage in the rally fetches him a point as Wardoyo tries to draw him closer to the net. But Priyanshu plays the shuttle back to baseline and forces Wardoyo to play a reverse flick, and the Indian player finishes the rally with a superb net kill. He does that after winning a point with a half-smash.
Priyanshu still trails 12-18 as Wardoyo shows consistency in winning points with his varied strokeplay.
