In a day of mixed fortunes for India, teenage badminton star Tanvi Patri secured her spot in the final of the U15 women's singles category.

At the same time, Tankara Gnana Dattu Talasila settled for bronze in the U17 men's singles at the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championships on Saturday.

Patri, the first seed in her category, defeated Thailand's Kungkaew Kakanik with a victory in straight games, 21-19, 21-10, to reach the final.

On the other hand, Gnana Dattu, the second seed in his category, fell short in his semifinal match against Indonesian shuttler Radithya Bayu Wardhana, despite a strong start.

Patri's semifinal match was a thrilling encounter. She narrowly clinched the first game 21-19, overcoming a spirited challenge from Kakanik.

The second game, however, was more one-sided, with Patri dominating her opponent to win 21-10, securing her place in the final.

Gnana Dattu's semifinal match started strong, with him winning the first game with an impressive 21-9 margin, but he couldn't maintain his momentum in the subsequent games.

Wardhana staged a strong comeback, taking the next two games 21-13, 21-13, to end Gnana Dattu’s championship run and secure his place in the final.

Despite the loss, Gnana Dattu's performance earned him a bronze medal.

With her spot in the final secured, Patri will now face Vietnam’s second-seeded Thi Thu Huyen Nguyen in tomorrow's championship match.
