Ayush Shetty entered the world top 20 for the first time, jumping up seven places to reach the career high ranking of 18 in the BWF men's singles Ranking on Tuesday.

Ayush had a historic silver medal-winning run last week at the Badminton Asia Championships in China, just falling short of the title to Shi Yu Qi in the final.

Shi has now returned as the world's No. 1 men's singles player, dethroning Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand, who lost to Ayush Shetty in the semi-final last week.

The 20-year-old had just become the second Indian after Dinesh Khanna to reach the Badminton Asia Championships Singles final, ending a 61-year wait.

India now has two male shuttlers in the World Top 20, as Lakshya Sen gained one position in rankings despite a first-round loss and now sits in 11th place.

In the women's singles, PV Sindhu remained in 13th place as the top-ranked Indian in this event, followed by Unnati Hooda (23rd) and Tanvi Sharma (35th).

Meanwhile, the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty held on to their 4th rank despite a withdrawal last week due to injury.
