PV Sindhu, as well, played a good match but couldn't match up to Sayaka Takahashi as the southpaw proved to be too good for Sindhu, third time in a row and Sindhu had an early exit, 21-19, 16-21, 21-17.
On the men's singles front, Lakshya Sen kept his giant-killing spree on as he played a sensational match against World No. 3 Anders Antonsen and booked his place in the quarters, 21-16, 21-18. Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth had a tough loss against Anthony Ginting, 21-9, 18-21, 19-21.
On the doubles front, both pairs have booked their spots in the quarters after Satwik-Chirag practically dominated against a German pair, 21-7, 21-7 and on the other hand, Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly also had a pretty solid outing against the Olympic champions before Apriyani Rahayu retired, 18-21, 19-14 (ret.)
