Welcome to the live blog of The Bridge from the much-awaited All England Open 2022!
India's quest for an elusive All England crown will begin anew today as Indian badminton stars will get to the grind to end the 21-year-drought since the last All England win by Pullela Gopichand.
At the end of Day 1, HS Prannoy, MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila, Krishna Prasad/Vishnuvardhan Goud, Meghana/Poorvisha, Sameer Verma, Sai Praneeth, Parupalli Kashyap, Ashwini/Sikki, Aakarshi Kashyap, Sourabh Verma, Ishaan/Tanisha, Venkat Prasad/Juhi Dewangan have lost.
Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth are the only ones through to the Round of 16 after emphatic wins!

On a roll, since their Syed Modi silver and a German Open quarter-finals run, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud will begin their All England campaign against German pair of Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel.

And we win, Satwik-Chirag brush off threats and secure a straight-sets win!
Satwik-Chirag goes full throttle in the final few moments of the second set and that is game, set, match to the fifth seeds at the All England Open who now get India their second win of the day after Gayatri/Treesa's heroics!
Let's goooo! Through to the Round of 16!

Into Game 2, the Scottish pair are the ones to head into the mid-game break with a lead
Minor point of concern for Satwik-Chirag here who are seeded fifth at the All England Open as they lag behind at 11-9 now.

Into Game 2, Satwik-Chirag are a little on the back foot but no worries yet
The Scottish pair of Dunn and Hill are attacking more in Game 2 and leaves Satwik-Chirag on the back foot a little. But they are back on serve again at 3-7!

But oh my god, it is Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly who gives India their first win! What a brilliant show!
Commendable performance from Gayatri/Treesa, what a fight they just put up!
Huge positive for India to hold their own today. They get India the first win at the All England with a resounding, 17-21, 22-20, 21-14 victory over Aimsaard sisters!
