World Athletics U20 C'ships: Indian squad, preview, schedule, streaming
Indian athletes are ready to shine at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, with a record 43 athletes competing for glory.

Bapi Hansda has joined the 43-member Indian contingent for the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
The World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 24 is set to commence on August 27 and end on August 31.
India will look to make a mark on the global stage as the country has sent a contingent of 43 athletes, the eighth-largest contingent of the games.
This is the largest-ever squad for India at the Junior World Championships. Indian athletes will compete in 30 events out of 45.
This biennial event serves as a crucial platform for the next generation of track and field stars.
1720 athletes from 134 countries will showcase their skills and gain valuable experience.
Notably, Neeraj Chopra came to the limelight for the first time when he smashed the under-20 javelin world record during the 2016 Championships in Poland throwing a massive 86.48m, a record that he still holds.
In the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Colombia, India finished joint-25th with three medals - 2 silvers and 1 bronze.
Athletes to watch out for
Bapi Hansda: Bapi Hansda recovered from dengue and joined the Indian contingent at Lima. he will run in the 400m dash and 4x400m Relay events. His sub-47-second run makes him a crucial component of the Indian contingent. Bapi will also compete in the 4x400m mixed relay team.
Murad Kalubhai Sirman: Murad is the answer to the long-standing question of a 400m hurdler from India. With a season and personal best of 50.60s, Murad will be looking to finish at the podium at Lima.
Himanshu and Sachin: Taking part in the 10,000m Racewalk event, the two Indian athletes are among the top 10-timing holders at the Championships. While Himanshu’s personal best is 41:55.40s, Sachin has 41:55.87s.
Neeru Pathak: The female section of the 400m race has always produced some great talent and the junior world championships have always showcased that. Neeru will be looking to continue the legacy and clinch a medal further.
Aarti: The seventh fastest 10,000m junior female race-walker of the year, Aarti will lead India’s chances at the 10,000m race walk event.
The 4x400m Mixed Relay Team: With a staggering personal best of 3:17.76s, the team consisting of Neeru Pathak, Bapi Hansda, Rihan Chaudhary, Sandramol Sabu, Shravani Sangle, and Jay Kumar will be looking to upgrade India’s medal from silver in the 2022 Cali Championships to gold in the 2024 Lima Championships.
