On Tuesday, a detailed Games schedule was announced by the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic organising committee which includes morning start times for finals traditionally held in the latter half.  The detailed competition schedule was released to provide information to those wanting to buy Games tickets ahead of the lottery starting next month. Concerns over Japan's extreme summer conditions and considerations of U.S. broadcasters were reflected in the schedule.  The finals of nine athletics event, as well as medal competitions of basketball, beach volleyball and swimming, will feature morning start times. Despite the early start, the organisers are hopeful of "full stadiums" even in the early morning. Organisers stated that they had taken a "holistic approach when compiling the schedule" and had also taken into account "the technical rules and regulations of the various international federations, gender balance, athletes' experience and well-being, the popularity of individual sports in Japan, global TV audiences and operational considerations.” The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will see a record 33 sports and 339 events being held from July 2 to August 9, 2020. The preliminary events is scheduled to begin two days before the Opening Ceremony. The women’s 10-meter air rifle shooting competition will see the Games’ first medal event which will be held on July 25. August 8, 2020, the day before the Closing Ceremony, will be the busiest day in terms of most finals (at least 30).
