Indian hurdler Tejas Shirse continued to impress, breaking the men's 60m hurdles indoor record for the second time this year. He clocked 7.64 seconds to clinch the silver medal at the Elite Indoor Meet in France on Friday.
Meanwhile, Jyothi Yarraji missed out on a podium finish, securing fifth place in the women's 60m hurdles with a timing of 8.10 seconds. She fell short of her national record, which she set last week, by 0.06 seconds.
Tejas started the event on a high, finishing third in the first heat and booking his spot in the final with a timing of 7.70 seconds. He improved on this in the final, securing a silver medal.
Enrique Llopis of Spain won the gold medal with a brilliant timing of 7.54 seconds, while the bronze went to Wilhem Belocian of France with 7.67s.
This was Tejas' third indoor meet of the season, and he is improving with each competition. He will now be aiming to qualify for the Indoor World Championships.
On the other hand, Jyothi Yarraji had a slow start to the competition, clocking 8.20 seconds in the heats. However, this was enough to qualify for the final.
In the final, she improved her performance by clocking a timing of 8.10 seconds, but it wasn't enough to secure a podium finish, and she had to settle for fifth place.
