Haryana’s international high jumper Pooja continued her stunning form by breaking her own U-18 national record in the high jump on the third day of the 39th National Junior Championships at the Kalinga Stadium on Monday.

The 17-year-old Pooja cleared 1.85m during the heptathlon competition, surpassing her previous best of 1.83m set at the World U-20 Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru, earlier this year.

Her performance reaffirmed her dominance in the event, securing yet another milestone in her young career.

In the men’s U-20 400m race, Delhi’s rising star Jay Kumar also etched his name in the record books. He clocked an impressive 46.29 seconds, breaking the meet record of 46.59 seconds set by Amoj Jacob in 2017. Jay’s consistency on the track this season has marked him as one of the most promising quarter-milers in the country.

Meanwhile, the girls’ U-16 javelin throw saw fierce competition as the top six throwers surpassed the previous national record. Haryana’s Muskan emerged victorious with a remarkable throw of 46.87m, shattering the earlier U-16 national record of 40.01m set by Shivani Patel earlier this year.
