It was a disappointing start for the Indian contingent on day one of athletics events at the Tokyo Olympics. Avinash Sable, MP Jabir, Dutee Chand, and the mixed relay team were all knocked out from the heats.

Avinash Sable did set a new national record and was also a bit unlucky as he finished 13th fastest overall but was knocked out because of the level of competition in heat 2.

That's all from the opening day of the athletics.

Thank you very much for joining in and I hope you get a good night's sleep before the start of our coverage tomorrow.
