The 34th National Junior Athletics Championships continued at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Tuesday.

In the Women’s U18 1,000m race, the top-three finishers broke the existing national record with Haryana’s Sanjana Singh winning gold and setting a new national mark by clocking 2:46.45s.

Similarly, the 600m national record in the girls U16 category was also broken by four athletes with Tamil Nadu’s Edwina Jason eventually setting a new national mark of 1:33.26s. Haryana’s Tannu and Uttar Pradesh’s Nandani Rajbhar settled for silver and bronze respectively.

New national records were also created in the boys U14 kids javelin throw category by Bhiky Barman (60.65m) and in the girls U14 kids javelin throw category by Minakshi of Haryana (46.81m).

Karnataka picked up gold in the men’s U18 1,000m sprint medley race clocking 1:54.55s. In the women’s U18 1,000m sprint medley race, Tamil Nadu clocked 2:12.80s to pick up gold ahead of Haryana and Maharashtra.

Karnataka picked up yet another gold in the boys U16 1,000m sprint medley race with a timing of 2:00.35s.

The final day of the championship will play out on Wednesday.
