Indian star triple jumpers began their campaign on the third day of the Inter-State Athletics C'ships 2026 in Bhubneshwar, Odisha on Friday.
National record holder Praveen Chithravel fight it out against Abdulla Aboobacker and Selva Prabhu for the available quota spots for the Asian Games 2026.
On the other hand, the action also began in the relays, with three finals took place for the day. Meanwhile, Tejas Shirse was also in action in the 110m hurdles.

Personal Best for Seema in Women's Discus Throw
She registered a 59.73m throw on her final attempt to claim a new personal best and further solidify her place in India's Asian Games Squad.

Praveen Chithravel wins the men's triple jump title
His first jump of 16.92m proved to be enough for him to bag the gold medal and also a berth for the coming Asian Games.

Abdulla Aboobacker finishes 4th in men's triple jump final
The reigning Commonwealth medalist finished just outside the podium with the best of 16.54m.
This may also end his chances for the qualification of the Asian Games 2026 as there will be just two quota places per event.

He covered a distance of 16.54m on his third attempt to enter the top three in the standings, behind Praveen and Selva.

Four Triple jumpers breached the Asian Games qualification mark for India
Praveen Chithravel (16.92m) is leading the men's triple jump final pack, followed by Selva Prabhu (16.57m), Gailey (16.42m) and Karthik U (16.40).
All four jumpers have also breached the Asian Games mark of 16.28m

Seema comfortably breaches the Asian Games mark in the discus throw
She attained a distance of 57.13m on her second attempt to breach the mark of 55.48m.

Nidhi (55.92m) and Sanya Yadav (56.05m) also crossed the mark on their third attempts.

Praveen Kumar further improves his mark on the final attempt to 69.58m
He once again improved his personal best and solidified his place in the men's hammer throw squad of the Asian Games.

Tejas Shirse wins the men's 110m hurdles final with a time of 13.61s
This timing was also under the Asian Games qualifying standard of 13.63s.
R Manav (13.66s) and M Krishik (13.69s) finished in second & third positions respectively but missed out on the qualification standard.
