India topped with the highest number of suspended track and field athletes for doping related violations in the latest list released by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

With a total of 148 suspended athletes, India surpassed Kenya (140). Russia is the third country in the list with 66 athletes suspended for doping until 1 April, 2026.

Among the 148 suspended Indian athletes are 100m women's national record holder Dutee Chand, NCAA star Parvej Khan among others.

The Athletics Integrity Unit is an independent anti-doping body which by formed by World Athletics. It keeps a track of track and field athletes from across the globe.

India's ascent to the top in the AIU doping suspension list comes just months after the country emerged as the worst offender with 260 athletes tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in the World Anti Doping Agency's (WADA) report for 2024.

Athletics remains one of India's worst hit sports due to the doping menace. Despite the Athletics Federation of India's (AFI) clampdown on athletes as well as coaches, doping in Indian track and field continues to be on rise.
