India added three more medals on the third day of the inaugural Asian U23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China, with distance runner Shivaji Parashuram winning his second silver medal of the competition on Saturday.

Shivaji finished second in the men's 10,000m with a personal best time of 29:33.54, taking India's overall medal tally to 11. It was his second podium finish after claiming silver in the men's 5,000m on the opening day.

The Indian remained in contention for gold for much of the race before settling for silver behind Japan's Yoshihiro Kusuoka, who won the event in 29:29.34. China's Jinzhi Jiang claimed bronze with a time of 29:42.54, while India's Shailesh Kushwaha narrowly missed out on a medal after finishing fourth in 30:46.78.

Priya, Shravani add bronze medals

India's second medal of the day came in the women's discus throw, where Priya secured bronze with a best effort of 50.44m. China's Zhichao Jiang won gold with a throw of 58.63m, while compatriot Jingru Huang took silver with 55.33m.

Shravani Sangle added another bronze after clocking 58.09 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles. Chinese Taipei's Hsin Ju Chung won gold in 57.41 seconds, while Uzbekistan's Nurkhon Ochilova claimed silver in 57.99 seconds.

India also came close to additional podium finishes. Anupriya VS finished fourth in the women's shot put with 14.97m, while Shreeya Rajesh placed fourth in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.49 seconds. Sabita Toppo was sixth in the same event.

In other results, Mohd Atta Sazid finished fifth in the men's long jump with a best leap of 7.72m. Astik Pradhan placed fifth in the men's 400m in 46.33 seconds, while Setu Mishra finished seventh in 47.26 seconds.

With one day of competition remaining, India will look to add to its medal tally at the continental Under-23 championships.
