The coronavirus crisis is showing no signs of slowing down. As of Saturday, India has reported more than 7,000 cases of COVID-19 with 239 deaths and thing are getting grimmer by the day.

Taking note of how serious the situation is, Indian sprinter Hima Das wants everyone to know how about the enormity of the situation and not to take it lightly.

Hima's native state of Assam has recorded 29 cases of COVID-19 with one death due to disease. The young sprinter has urged people to be careful and stay at home to avoid getting infected by the virus.

In a her, the ace sprinter said, "Really sad to know that the first death due to COVID-19 has reported in our state. I request everyone to kindly take this pandemic more seriously. Our doctors, police, sanitation and all essential workers are risking their lives for us. Stay home safely."

Hima Das has been actively promoting social distancing and has been engaged in spreading the importance of taking coronavirus seriously.
