Asian Games 2026: Sarvesh, Ancy win silver; Tejaswin, Parul and Harita add bronze

India added four athletics medals to its Asian Games tally on Sunday as Sarvesh Kushare and Ancy Sojan won silver medals, while Tejaswin Shankar and Parul Chaudhary secured bronze.

Kushare finished second in the men's high jump after clearing 2.25m. He had led the competition for much of the final but slipped to second after failing to clear the height on his first attempt. Chinese Taipei's Chao Hsuan-Fu cleared 2.25m at the first time of asking, while Kushare succeeded on his second attempt.

In the women's long jump, Ancy Sojan also had to settle for silver despite leading for most of the final. Her best effort of 6.53m came on her fifth attempt, but China's Huang Yingying produced a late 6.55m jump to move into first place.

Ancy's compatriot Shaili Singh missed out on the podium after China's Mengyi Tan recorded 6.46m. Shaili's best jump was 6.42m.

Tejaswin Shankar added a bronze in the men's decathlon with 7,934 points. The national record holder had entered the second day in first place with 4,338 points and capped his campaign by winning the 1500m in 4:33.09.

Parul Chaudhary claimed her second consecutive Asian Games bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase. She clocked a personal best 9:08.67, while Bahrain's Winfred Yavi won gold in 9:04.36 and Kazakhstan's Norah Jeruto Tanui took silver in 9:06.82. India's Ankita finished fourth in a personal best 9:19.24.

Earlier, Harita Bhadra won bronze in the women's 200m in 23.20 seconds. Unnathi Aiyappa Bolland finished sixth in 23.48 seconds.
