After KT Irfan and Bhavana Jat, three more Indian racewalkers qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2021 after meeting the qualification standards at the National Race Walking Championships in Ranchi on Saturday.

Men's race walker Sandeep Kumar created a national record early this morning by competing men's 20km Race Walk and finishing it in a time of 1:20:16.

Similar display was put up by female racewalker Priyanka Goswami who completed the 20km women's course in a timing of 1:28:45.

AFI tweeted earlier this morning:

The Tokyo Olympics qualification time for men's 20km racewalking is set at an hour and 21 minutes. Sandeep had missed out on the qualification mark in last year's nationals by mere 34 seconds. But his coach Gurmeet Singh believed in his ward which kept him motivated. Priyanka too had missed the qualification mark by 34 seconds in the last edition, where the female qualification time is set at one hour 31 minutes. Their timings also earned them qualification for the 2022 World Athletics Championships

KT Irfan and Bhavana Jat have qualified for the men and women's 20km race respectively.
