Indian para-athletes continued their medal-winning run at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, as Prachi Yadav bagged India's first-ever gold medal in Para Canoeing on Tuesday.

Prachi, who earlier won India's first-ever Para Canoeing medal with a silver in the VL2 event, bagged the gold medal in the KL2 event ahead of Shanshan Wang.

KL2 is a classification in para canoeing for athletes with a trunk and partial leg function. KL2 athletes have good trunk control and some leg function, which allows them to use a seated kayak-style boat and a single-blade paddle.

In Para Canoeing, Manish Kaurav (men's KL3 canoe) -- who is the husband of Prachi, and Gajendra Singh (men's VL2 canoe) claimed the bronze medal.

In Para Athletics, quarter-miler Deepthi Jeevanji clinched the second gold medal of the day in the women's T20 400m race with an Asian record timing of 56.69 seconds.

Ajay Kumar (men's T64 400m) and Simran Sharma (women's T12 100m) bagged a silver each while Ekta Bhayan (women's F32/51 club throw) won a bronze medal.

With seven medals, including two gold, so far on the second day, India's tally has swelled to 24 (8 gold, 8 silver, 8 bronze).

India started the Asian Para Games with a staggering 17 medals on the first day including six gold with star shooter Avani Lekhara leading the way.

Besides Avani (women's R2 10m air rifle standing SH1), the other gold winners on Monday were Pranav Soorma (men's F51 club throw), Shailesh Kumar (men's T63 high jump), Nishad Kumar (men's T47 high jump), Ankur Dhama (men's T11 5000m) and Praveen Kumar (men's T64 high jump).
