Asian Para Games 2026: India to field 168 athletes in Aichi-Nagoya – Full contingent revealed
Check out the complete Indian contingent for the 2026 Asian Games.

India's 2020 Tokyo Paralympics gold medallists Avani Lekhara and Pramod Bhagat
With the 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan less than a week away, India has finally finalised its core contingent after a controversially delayed selection process.
This will be the fifth edition of the Games, which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya from 18 to 24 October, with 45 nations competing in 492 medal events across 18 sports.
India will field a 168-athlete squad (112 men and 56 women) across 11 disciplines, supported by 98 team officials and 15 contingent staff.
Paralympic medallists Pramod Bhagat (badminton) and Bhavina Patel (table tennis) have been named as the flagbearers for the opening ceremony.
This marks a significant reduction from the 309-athlete contingent at the previous edition, largely due to limited quota places available this time.
For instance, India had sent 123 athletes in athletics to Hangzhou, but only 60 quotas were initially allocated this time by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
The Paralympic Committee of India, however, secured two additional spots, taking its overall tally to 62, which is the biggest in a single sport for India, followed by 28 in para badminton and 16 in para swimming.
The Sports Ministry has opted not to field teams in taekwondo, goalball, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis and wheelchair rugby.
The actual number of the contingent might differ from what is mentioned above, as there are a few pending court appeals in a few of the sports.
