India built on its first medal tally of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, adding five more medals from the day with Mirabai Chanu winning the weightlifting silver.
The country has now collected twelve medals, including one gold, five silver and six bronze, but has slipped down to 13th in the medal tally.
Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg category with a 198kg total, securing her maiden Asian Games medal. The Olympic silver medallist won an Asian Games weightlifting medal for India since Karnam Malleswari’s silver in 1998.
Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final as India finished the women's air pistol event without any medal.
However, India won bronze in both the men’s and women’s skeet team events, and Jay Meena secured India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in soft tennis with a men’s singles bronze.
India lost 1-3 to China in the men’s team semifinal and settled for bronze. Indian Kabaddi teams continued their winning streak and advanced to the semis to confirm medals.

Shooting, Men's Skeet Individual Final: Anantjeet Singh Naruka finishes 4th; misses out on medal
Anantjeet managed to get 4/4 hits in the seventh series, but it was not enough for him to topple the podium positions and he had to settle for a 4th-place finish
He ended the competition with 25/28 hits, missing out on a podium by one hit to Taipei's Lee Men-Yuan.
This was India's second fourth-place finish on the Skeet range today as Raiza Dhillon also earned the same position in the women's Individual final.

Anantjeet continues his good streak and manages to claim 11/12 hits in the last three series to confirm a top 4 finish.
He now has 21/24 hits overall and is in 4th place, but is trailing the podium by 2 hits; the next elimination is just one series away, making it tough for him to win a medal.

Anant Jeet Singh Naruka managed to hit 10 out of 12 hits after the first three series in the final to confirm a top-6 place in the final.
He had a poor start, with just 2/4 hits in the first end, but after that he had two back-to-back 4/4 hits and rose above to the top 6, surviving the first elimination.
