Asian Games 2026: India eye wushu gold, rowing medals and hockey win on September 24

India heads into another busy day at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, with multiple medal opportunities across rowing, wushu, shooting and canoeing.
Wednesday brought a significant medal haul for India. Mirabai Chanu finally ended her Asian Games medal wait by winning silver in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event, while Jay Meena created history by becoming India’s first soft tennis medallist with bronze. The shooting contingent added two more bronzes through the men’s and women’s skeet teams.
India’s women also produced a record-breaking hockey performance, thrashing Thailand 20-1, with Deepika Sehrawat scoring nine goals. The men’s badminton team secured bronze after losing 1-3 to China in the semifinal, while Roshibina Devi booked her place in the women’s 60kg sanda final in wushu.
Thursday begins with a packed rowing programme, including the men’s single and double sculls finals. Roshibina will then take on China’s Xiaoyu Zhang in the women’s 60kg sanda final at 6:05 AM, with an Asian Games gold medal at stake.
Shooting features the men’s 10m air pistol qualification and final, while the mixed skeet team event also reaches its medal stage.
India’s men’s hockey team face South Korea at 11:30 AM, while both kabaddi teams continue their group campaigns against Chinese Taipei and Japan respectively.
The day also features boxing, squash, table tennis, fencing, swimming and athletics, with Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh set to compete in the men’s 100m heats. The mixed 4x400m relay final and women’s 10,000m final are among the evening athletics highlights.
