The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 are underway in Japan from September 19 to October 4, with athletes from across Asia competing for medals in 43 sports.
India enjoyed its biggest gold rush of the Games on October 2, winning six gold medals across archery, boxing, wrestling and hockey. The women’s recurve team made history with India’s first Asian Games gold in the event, while Lovlina Borgohain, Parveen Hooda and Ankush Panghal completed a boxing hat-trick. Sujeet Kalkal then produced a stunning comeback to win wrestling gold before the women’s hockey team ended a 44-year wait for the Asian Games title by beating China 1-0.
India also added two silver and three bronze medals on October 2, taking its overall tally to 76 medals: 16 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze. India currently sits fifth in the medal standings.
