Asian Games 2026: India enjoyed another strong day at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, winning four shooting medals while continuing their impressive run across hockey, kabaddi, table tennis and badminton.
Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, giving India their first-ever double podium in the event at the Asian Games. India also won silver in the team event through Rudrankksh, Himanshu and Parth Mane.
Suchika Tariyal created history by winning India’s first-ever Asian Games MMA medal, taking bronze in the women’s Traditional 60kg category.
The hockey teams continued their dominance, with the women thrashing Indonesia 17-1 and the men winning 13-1. India’s kabaddi teams also impressed, with the women beating Bangladesh 42-21 and the men defeating Japan 49-24.
The men’s and women’s table tennis teams both beat Pakistan 3-0, while the men’s badminton team defeated Bangladesh 3-0. Boxer Sumit Kundu and wushu fighters Roshibina Devi and Aryan also advanced in their respective events.
India will return on Tuesday with more medal opportunities, including the women’s cricket gold-medal match against Sri Lanka and the women’s badminton quarterfinal against Japan.

Indian men's air rifle shooters Parth Mane, Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon will begin their campaign at the Asian Games
They will compete in the 60-shot qualification stage, and the best eight shooters based on their cumulative scores will qualify for the final.
The combined scores of the trio will also be counted for the team event, and the best three teams after the qualification stage will earn the medals.

Soft Tennis, Mixed Doubles Group Stage: India starts with a win
Indian pair Jay Meena and Aadhya Tiwari start their group stage campaign with a straight game 5-0 (4-1, 4-0, 4-2, 4-1, 4-2) win against Cambodia.
They fully dominated the match and didn't let the Cambodian pair Viva Chao and Chanroseka Khun win more than two points in any of the five games.
India's group has four teams, with Mongolia and South Korea next. The top two teams will advance to the round of 16.

India clinched two medals on the opening day of the Asian Games 2026, with Elavenil Valarivan winning the women's air rifle silver and the Indian women's air rifle team winning the silver.

It was a the Indian women's day in Aichi-Nagoya on Sunday with two silver medals in women's 10m air rifle led by Elavenil Valarivan.
Suchika Tariyal assured a MMA medal, as did the women's cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur, moving into the gold medal match.
The Indian women's hockey team, led by Deepika Sehrawat's eight goals, obliterated Uzbekistan 19-0, while the women's badminton team blanked Kazakhstan 8-0.
The table tennis team also registered twin wins, including a 3-2 thriller over Singapore, thanks to the heroics of reigning national champ Yashaswini Ghorpade.
There was a heartbreak in teqball with Quimcy D'Souza losing both singles and mixed doubles bronze medal matches.
Among the men, the Indian hockey team recorded a 13-1 win over Indonesia, while Rishabh Das finished 6th in 100m backstroke swimming.
