2026 Asian Games LIVE: It is a big day for India and Quimcy Joaquim D'souza, with the 24-year-old set to take on Indonesia’s Sumaya in the women’s singles Teqball semifinal at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center from 6:30 AM IST.

D'souza has already made an impressive start to her Asian Games debut. She stunned top seed and home favourite Yuina Sakamoto of Japan 2-1 (10-12, 12-11, 13-11) in her opening Group A match before beating Cambodia’s Koemyean DY 12-9, 12-7 to top the group and progress directly to the semifinals.

A victory against Sumaya would guarantee Dsouza a historic Asian Games medal for India in Teqball, which is making its debut at Aichi-Nagoya. Even a defeat in the semifinal would leave her with another opportunity to fight for bronze in the medal play-off.

The other major event of the day is the Opening Ceremony of the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM IST at Paloma Mizuho Stadium. The ceremony will officially mark the opening of the Aichi-Nagoya Games, which run until October 4.

Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor will lead the Indian contingent as the flag bearer.
