A jam packed schedule for team India with some glaring medal chances right from the onset in Day 1 at the 2018 Asian Games ongoing in Jakarta. The 10m rifle and pistol shooters, wrestlers like Sushil Kumar and Bajrang Punia, Sajan Prakash and an exciting Srihari Natraj in Swimming- all of these people will be vying for medals later on in the day. India's start in the Asian Games so far has not been ideal with the Handball and the Basketball teams losing out in their early qualifying round matches. One can hope to redeem that from today after a fantastic opening ceremony as the medal events finally begin. After a spelindidly brave performance in the Vitality Hockey World Cup, the Indian Women's Team do emerge as one of the top contenders for the ultimate medal and podium finish. They will be kicking off their campaign as well today with an opening match against Indonesia. The Men's Badminton team which has no dearth of top Indian players will be starting off at the Asian Games against Maldives. This can only get tougher as days go by because the Asian Games includes countries which are the powerhouses of World Badminton. Also of interest in the bout of the Men's Kabaddi team later on today. Historically speaking, India has won every single Gold medal in the sport since it was started at the Asian Games- both Men and Women. Selection processes hit a snag earlier on after former players expressed dissatisfaction on the lack of transparency. We hope the unwanted attention has done little to deter the Indians from their quest to win Gold. Here is the schedule of the medal events and team matches:
