Indian ace compound archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam made it to her third straight final at the fourth stage of the Indoor World Series 2024-25 in Nimes, France, on Saturday.

Alongside her, young archer Rishabh Yadav also advanced to the final in the men's compound category. However, top seed Abhishek Verma and recurve archer Atanu Das exited in the quarterfinals.

Consistency from Compound Archers

Jyothi Surekha Vennam, seeded sixth in the ranking round, continued her exceptional performance on the indoor circuit, reaching her third consecutive gold medal match with a 147-146 win against Amanda of Croatia.

Jyothi, who has already won two titles, will be aiming for a hat-trick when she takes on Colombian archer Alejandra Usquiano in the final on Sunday.

The Nimes Archery Tournament is the first IWS 1000 series of the season, offering significant tour points and helping Jyothi solidify her top position in the world indoor tour rankings.

Meanwhile, veteran compound men's archer Abhishek Verma continued his dominance in the ranking round, finishing in the top position for the second time this season with a score of 599/600.

However, he again fell short in the elimination round, losing to compatriot Rishabh Yadav (148-150), who shot a perfect score in the quarterfinals. Rishabh then extended his winning run to reach the final.

Rishabh will fight for his maiden gold medal on the indoor circuit this season when he faces Nico Werner of Austria in the final on Sunday.

Quarterfinal Exit for Atanu Das

In the men's recurve category, Atanu Das had a good run but fell short in the quarterfinals, losing a very close shoot-off against Italian archer Matteo Borsani, despite shooting a 10 in the shoot-off.

He didn't have a strong ranking round, finishing in 15th position with a score of 587. However, he showed resilience in the elimination round, earning a dominating straight-set (6-0) win against second-seeded Roy Dror of Israel.

This was his second event in the current Indoor World Circuit after his bronze medal triumph in Lausanne last November. With two more stages left on the circuit, he will aim to return to the podium.
