Ace Indian archers and couple Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari win bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Archery Championships 2019 in the recurve mixed team event on Monday after defeating China's Yichai Zheng and Shaoxuan Wei 6-2, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Indian pair seeded second shot 38-37, 37-39, 38-35 and 40-38 in the bronze medal encounter.

Earlier in the pre-quarterfinal they had defeated Sri Lanka by 5-1, followed by a win 5-1 win over DPR Korea in quaterfinals. In the semis, they faced Chinese Taipei and lost by 3-5.

They are the first archers from India to win medals at the continental championship, which started on 22nd November. This is Deepika Kumari's first medal this year. However, they are not representing India and playing under the World Archery banner as the Archery Association of India (AAI) stands suspended.

In the compound mixed team event, Abhishek Verma and Jyoti Surekha Vennam have reached the finals after Korea's top-seeded duo Chaewon So and Jaewon Yang 159-154. They will play the final against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.
