India has roped in Prema Rawat as the replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil at the ongoing 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The replacement was approved by the Event Technical Committee of the World Cup late on Thursday.
Patil, who had a breakthrough run in the 2026 Women's Premier League earlier this year after a long injury layoff, picked up an ankle injury during India's second group match against Netherlands on Wednesday.
Bowling her first over of the match, which India would later go on to win comfortably, Patil rolled her ankle while fielding. She was then stretchered off the field and took no further part in the contest.
Rawat, a leg spinner, will now join the Indian team. She is already in England as a part of the India 'A' tour and will link up with the squad.
The 24-year-old Rawat is uncapped at the international level but has been on the rise in the recent past with her performances for Uttarakhand in the domestic circuit and for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women's Premier League.
Rawat was also a part of the Indian team for the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars, where she shone with eight wickets at an impressive average of 9.62.
