The Indian women’s cricket team suffered a six-wicket defeat in the third and final T20I against England on Tuesday, losing the three-match away series 1-2.

The team posted a good total of 180 on the board, but the hosts chased it down in 18.3 overs, handing India its second consecutive T20I series defeat.

This was India's last series before heading to the upcoming ICC Women's T20I World Cup in England & Wales from June 12 to July 5th.

India got off to a shaky start, losing both openers, Smriti Mandhana (8) and Shafali Verma (11), inside the first four overs.

However, Yastika Bhatia once again displayed her explosive batting, smashing a quickfire 32 off just 18 balls to give India’s run rate a much-needed boost.

But she couldn’t extend her stay and was run out in the 7th over. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur then walked in to bat and tried to steady the ship.

She had two vital partnerships with Jemimah Rodrigues (29) and Deepti Sharma (32), completing her 17th T20I half-century (56) and guiding India to a challenging total.

Chasing 181 on the board, England also had a poor start to the innings, losing three wickets for just 38 runs thanks to some quality bowling from Kranti Gaud.

But then, the youngster Alice Capsey (82) alongside former English captain Heather Knight (70) formed a destructive 137-run partnership to end India's hope.
